LLLT is Safe and Effective - Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) slow healing and often have side effects whereas LLLT actually improves healing, as well as reducing inflammation and pain. Over 400 LLLT clinical trials (RCTs) and over 4,000 laboratory studies have been published. It has proven more effective and safer than pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories across a range of musculoskeletal conditions. LLLT also improves healing and reduces muscle fatigue, muscle damage and DOMS.

How does it works?

When cells are stressed, nitric oxide (NO) inhibits oxygen consumption by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase. This reduces production of ATP and causes oxidative stress leading to increased inflammation and reduced production of ATP. LLLT displaces NO from cytochrome C oxidase thereby reducing inflammation and restoring ATP production, healing tissues more quickly.

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is a laser or LED light therapy that improves tissue repair (skin wounds, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves), reduces inflammation and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied.

Two kinds?

Yes, high power density is necessary for analgesic and deep tissue targets, lower power density is necessary to promote healing and reduce inflammation in superficial wounds, tendons and joints. ATP Therapy use both high and low power density for best healing, deep penetration and analgesia.

Significant reduction of inflammation equal to or better than NSAIDs within 2 hours, analgesic effects that last to 48 hours, healing time of chronic tendinopathies reduced by 70%.

PBMT (photobiomodulation therapy) is a laser or LED light therapy that improves tissue repair (skin wounds, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves), reduces inflammation and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied.
PBMT has been found to accelerate recovery, reduce muscle damage and reduce post exercise soreness.

47 randomised clinical trials (RCTs) show unequivocally that PBMT reduces fatigue, increases strength and improves recovery. A further 100 RCTs show it improves the speed and quality of tissue repair, reduces inflammation and induces analgesia.

It works predominately on a protein in mitochondria (cytochrome c oxidase) to increase ATP and reduce oxidative stress. A cascade of mitochondrial and intracellular downstream effects lead to improved tissue repair and reduced inflammation.

Karen Gloyn owner operator of ATP Laser Therapy is an experienced New Zealand Registered Nurse and IPL and Laser Technician. Most of her career has been spent working in the Primary Health field working as a Practice Nurse in Medical Centres, Public Health Nursing and for several years as a nurse in Health Services in the NZ Prison Service.
In 2011 whilst managing her own successful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy business she was introduced to Photobiomodulation (PBMT) also known as Low Level Laser Treatment (LLLT).
The concept of reducing inflammation swelling and pain and accelerating healing without the use of medication or sharp objects was compelling. Karen spent time researching this treatment accessing training in Australia where she became aware of the growing trend towards the use of this treatment in Canada, USA, UK and Australia.
In 2013 ATP Laser Therapy evolved. ATP is the abbreviated name for Adenosine triphosphate present in all forms of life and put simply it equates to cell energy which is restored during the process of the treatment.
LLLT is not new. Scientists have known for many years visible and near infrared light (NIR) has a beneficial effect on cells, however it is only in the past few years that the dose has been reduced to a level which provides sometimes instant results at a cellular level. The best analogy of LLLT is photosynthesis.
